The first is a white linen cloth with clusters of white flowers embroidered in the centre and the corners. It could be used as a tray cloth, a table centre or placemat. Simple and pretty design.
The cloth is in very good condition, with no holes or snags and has been very neatly stitched, as can be seen from the close-up photo below. There are two small discoloured areas in one corner (bottom left on the main picture).
Measures 50 x 30½ cm (19½ x 12 inches).
The second is a white linen cloth with rectangles of cutwork circles in each corner and edged with a wide hem and simple drawn thread work. It could be used as a tray cloth, a table centre or placemat. Simple and unusual.
The cloth is in good condition, with no holes or snags but there are a couple of small stains. It has been neatly stitched (see close-up photo below).
It has a couple of laundry markers - one stitched (visible on the close-up) and one written on the reverse. This suggests that it is quite old - these marks were used for identification when linen was sent away to be laundered.
Measures 52 x 33 cm (20½ x 13 inches).
Both cloths have been freshly laundered and from a smoke and pet-free home.
